£120 MILLION POKER ROOM! Glasgow is the first visionary city council to grant a major casino-poker Leisure Complex licence in the UK. The one hundred and twenty million pound complex is to be built at the world famous Ibrox ground, home to Rangers Football Club and setting the compelling link between soccer and gaming that will dominate the leisure industry for decades to come. We can expect to see all of the major clubs applying for these licences to boost their coffers and to create massive employment in the gaming industry in all locations where the decision is positive. This will enable regular website players, who hone their skills online at home three or four evenings a week in their slippers and underwear, to get dressed up at weekends and hit the “live” action on a Saturday night.
A “TELLING” COMBINATION Given the obvious differences between online and “live” action poker, exposure to both types of play, will be a great way to “round out” a person’s game and turn individuals into fully fledged poker players, capable of recognising physical “tells” as well as knowing how to “read” opponents online.
QUEEN OF TARTS Fans of Big Brother’s balloon-boobed Lea Walker will be delighted to hear that Nick Fitt of Goalpoker.com has approached her with a view to her joining the site as yet another celebrity convert to the online poker universe. Obviously she has so much to bring to the table. According to Nick, “Lea is well-stacked and has all the front we need!” In short, she’s fully equipped for a good game and we’re confident it won’t be long before she feels the full fun of the “felt”! It’s actually items of modern life like this that scientists should put in their “time capsules” and fire off to the stars. At least that way we’d know it was “odds on” no advanced species is ever going to go to show any interest in us.
TIMELY ADVICE There are some large poker sites which still assume time in the UK is always Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)- Of course, at the moment for example, we’re on British Summer Time which runs one hour ahead of GMT. So there you are online, all ready to play and the site has blinded you away for being late. The answer is to log in at least an hour ahead of the start time shown on the site. If it turns out you’re early, you’ll have plenty of time to practice ahead of your main event. A handful of the big global sites are the culprits and I’m contacting the offenders to make the point for us all.
